Barefootbutterfly Heirloom Reborn Dolls
Reborn Dolls are a relativly new art form, having only been around for about 10 years. 'Reborns' are created from a kit consisting of vinyl parts that have been created from a mold of an original sculpture. As a reborn doll artist, Carolyn takes many hours to hand paint, layer upon layer, a lifelike skin tone. Heat set paints are used to ensure durability. Many details are carefully painted to acheive the utmost in realism including incredibly realistic skin tone, stork bites, cappilliaries, veining, & skin irregularities. Nails and lips are detailed to perfection & sealed with a slight gloss adding to the realism.
Open eyed babies are given incredibly realistic eyes, tiny baby lashes and are glossed to look so real.
Closed eyed babies have rooted lashes.
Hair is then applied by the method of rooting where one or two strands of angora mohair at a time are pressed into the vinyl with a rooting needle , giving the look of baby fine hair. It is then sealed inside. This process takes many many hours.
The doll is then carefully assembled and weighted to resemble the true weight of a infant. To hold a reborn feels so nice! Almost as if you are holding a real baby.
Carolyn then dresses her babies in new or vintage clothing, depending on the look she wants to acheive.
The new baby is ready to go to their new home!
Every Reborn baby that is made by Carolyn comes with a birth certificate of authenticity, a hand painted pacifier, care instructions and lots of little gifts for mommy!
