As my first blog post of 2018,
I wanted to post something dear to my heart...
As a mother of 3 myself, creating art with pregnant women is such a wonderful, maternal way to for us to bring art to the entire experience of carrying a child!

A little while ago, I was privileged to work with a wonderful young woman
on a very special project.

She was the winner of the grand prize that I gave away at my booth during Birthfair 2017!
A full Belly Paint & Phtoshoot!
I wanted to create something wonderful for her! 
I came up with the theme
Mother Earth.
She was thrilled & we decided to wait until Spring had sprung & the trees were in full leaf.

​  At the show in Cloverdale, I had a booth showcasing my photography and my pregnant belly painting! Check out the little video & write up about me in the Surrey Leader news paper!
Over the two days of the show I was able to paint six pregnant bellies
and do mini maternity photo sessions with these awesome ladies!
We were lucky that there was a park right next door to the venue! It snowed the second morning to, so we had quite the variety in backdrops, lol :)

Tiffany was the first belly I painted with a white scroll work theme ...

​Next was Roben with a sweet little Bear ...

Then lovely Amber with a pretty custom Safari, rose theme for baby Bella ❤

​The second day, after a night of snowfall, I started with the stunning Kayla & her sweet baby elephant belly paint...
​

​I made a super cute blooper reel with Kayla & her hubby who was my official fabric thrower for her shoot!

​Next painting was a white tiger cub for Jen, a former face painting student of mine! 

And our last belly paint of the show was the vibrant Lori-Ann who let me paint what ever my heart desired, so I came up with a multi colored background for a
​ Tree of Life dream catcher :)

This was such a wonderful event! I look forward to next year!

I had the privilege of taking photos of another beautiful expectant mother, this time, in amongst the spring cherry blossoms & fresh new shoots of spring! So happy for this time of year!!

 When I take a photo, lots of different things are going on.... Right in front of me, my subject, with the environment, with the technicalities of actually taking the photo, like the camera settings, etc, but always there is that little THING going on in my brain & my heart... Forgive me for stumbling along here with my words, lol... I hope you know what I'm talking about about but I would say possibly anyone with an artistic bone would say they understand what that THING is... It's when your brain gets really full & your heart is blissfully happy & for a moment they connect somehow & everything is right with the world because you know you just captured or created something beautiful. 
 I try to live my daily life remembering what it feels to be in that moment & how much it truly means to me and to the people I am creating that art work with.
 It was the morning of New Years day. A fresh year, and what better way to start it than to do what I'm passionate about! The maternity session with Mighele was amazingly magical! Frost & sun & that gorgeous belly! There is something about capturing the glow of a pregnant woman. It's pretty easy & I was the lucky one to get some amazing 'blissfully heart happy' moments sealed up in my camera & in my heart to <3

I had the lovely opportunity to photograph a beautiful couple last night in the sun... so much fun!

This summer has been a whirlwind of fun for me & creating art with pregnant tummies has been a big part of it :) some painted, some au-natural.. the goal is the same... extremely beautiful women celebrating their pregnancies by having me create art with them!! have i said lately that I LOVE what i do?!
